Nature Books

The wonders of nature offer great sources of healing and inspiration—and have always lifted my heart and spirit.
My two nature books, with
fabulous photography by John Fielder, have one purpose: to give you the feeling
of really being on the trail—in two of the most remarkable wilderness areas on
the planet. To Walk in Wilderness takes you on a month-long trek
into the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness in Colorado. Through my poetry
and daily journals, and John's brilliant photographs, we hope to bring to life
this remarkable region of wildflower meadows, river canyons, and snowy peaks. Rocky
Mountain National Park—A Hundred Year Perspective gives you a unique
historical view of one of America's most wondrous natural treasures. My
writing and John's photographs are set beside the evocative journals and
photographs of Enos Mills, a homesteader and trail guide from a century ago who
worked tirelessly to protect the whole area as a national park.
